Mary S. Boghosian-Asofsky, MA, CCC-LSP/TSHH is the co-owner and clinical coordinator of the practice. Ms. Boghosian earned a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Hofstra University, (1994). Through the American Speech and Hearing Association, she holds the Certificate for Clinical Competence. Furthermore, she is permanently certified through the New York State Education Department as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped. Ms. Boghosian is also licensed through New York State as a Speech-Language Pathologist. As a speech-language pathologist, Ms. Boghosian had been dedicated towards the treatment of patients ranging from birth through geriatrics. Although she had worked with adults Ms. Boghosian has concentrated in the educational aspect of speech-pathology encompassing the treatment of motor speech disorders, articulation disorders, phonological disorders and language/learning disabilities. She plays a crucial role in South Shore Center for Speech, Language and Swallowing Disorders, LLP as she supervises other speech-language pathologists. Ms. Boghosian is also active in the evaluation process and treatment of children ranging from birth through three years of age. Furthermore, she is an Ongoing Service Coordinator through the Suffolk County Department of Health for children ages birth to 36 months. Furthermore, she is involved in the transition evaluation from early intervention to related services, (4410 evaluations), and represents the families by presenting the findings to the Committee on Preschool Education, (CPSE). Additionally, Ms. Boghosian is active in the initial evaluation process and ongoing treatment of children ranging from three to five years of age. She attends the initial CPSE meetings to establish the goals and frequency of therapies. Ms. Boghosian has attending many seminars and workshops to further her knowledge and skills so as to improve upon the care of her patients. She is involved as a supervisor for those who hold their master’s degree and are completing their clinical fellowship year, (CFY), in speech-language pathology. Additionally, she is directly involved in staff educational training for various disorders, therapies and strategies as well as subsequent policies and procedures. It should be noted that she is an active member of the Long Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association, (LISHA), and has held a position on the executive board as well as the conference committee. Ms. Boghosian is also an active member of the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association, (NYSSHLA), and the American Speech and Hearing Association, (ASHA). Ms. Boghosian has been acknowledged for her services in rehabilitation relating to human communication sciences and disorders by receiving the Mimi Katzen Award – presented by the Long Island Speech-Language and Hearing Association, In recognition of unyielding commitment to the needs of individuals with speech, language and hearing impairments.
